The only time I tried to swallow oysters was in the 70s in Arizona (believe it or not!) during a dinner with my then-hubby's client. I choked halfway through. It wasn't a pretty sight. The wine...I can do...not the oysters :-)
There's plenty to be found. go to the little side steet vendors and down to the ferry building.....big farmer's market there and fresh sea critters too.
