April Showers Mug Rug Blog Hop!

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I have been gone from blog land the last month.  I have been busy traveling for work and then getting sick - twice!  First with a respiratory infection while I was in Atlanta and the second time last week with the stomach flu-yuck!  Also, I had to throw in my husband's 50th birthday and party!  So, I have not had much time for crafty fun lately.

I did make up my mug rug for this grea April Showers Mug Rug Blog Hop.  I went a little different for me.  I was trying for modern spring.  Not sure I hit the mark or not, but I do love the colors and the fabrics.

Also, I tried to do machine binding - guess I won't be doing that again, it's just not as nice as hand finishing (I'm a bit wonky still with this technique).

  13. Sweet! I love to experiment with different colors and styles. Don't give up on the machine binding if you really want to do it. My first couple attempts were pretty horrid, but then I got good at it and can bind a big quilt in about an hour from trimming to making the binding to sewing it all on, and it looks pretty good now! Some people like the whole hand-stitching aspect of putting on the binding, but not me. I'd do just about anything to avoid that. Have a great day:)

  18. I really like those colors, too! Your rug turned out super cute. I've tried machine binding and have pretty much decided it takes LOTS of practice, I'll always choose to hand-sew mine, but little projects like this are the way to practice--don't give up!

  19. Great colors on you mug rug. It looks so 60-70's. I have fond memories of hot pink and orange colors together because I had a really wild pair of pants in a print with those colors in the late 60's.
