I read somewhere

that in 2012, one of the quilting trends is going to be scrappy quilts! Who knew I was a trend setter?

Here is my scrap bin quilt (all the squares came from scrap pieces I sorted, ironed, cut and sewed up). The row closest to you is sewn - hence it's short stature.

Here is my scrap bin quilt being wrecked by a rabid wire-haired dachshund.  Good thing she is so dang cute.

Scrap-a-Licious

At our house we did a major purge over this last week.  Lots of stuff taken to Goodwill.  I'd been meaning to go through my scrap bins for a while...So last night I started sorting by color and tossing what was just a crumb.
It looked something like this...

Then I wanted to look for a scrap-friendly quilt project.  I flipped through this book.

I found this quilt..

So most of my scrap pile ended up looking like this..

I also realized I have a gingham problem...

I'm gonna have a hard time explaining where the rice and beans went...

I made a small sachet thanks to inspiration from Denise and then a large hot pad.

Dryer Sheet Quilt

Originally uploaded by amysgreatadventure
I posted about this a while back. Said I was gonna try it. Today, I invested my time. I've made 60 of the dryer squares. I'm using only my scraps - didn't know I had so many until I started this.

Now my scrape pile has been substantially reduced. I want to get around 80 dryer sheets put together and I'll be scraping by to get them.

Did I mention I'm not a quilter? But I'm going to give this my best try. All I have is the instructions from http://blog.mlive.com/runningwithneedles/2008/05/quilter_gives_scraps_of_fabric.html

the picture is a stack of sewn sheets about to be cut to 6 x 8.5 so I can start sewing the blocks together.

Not sure how it will end up. No idea on how I"ll quilt it either...
