Is Monday for Rest from the Weekend?

Needless to say, I over did "it" this weekend. By the time I went to bed last night(actually fell asleep on the sofa until midnight) I could barely walk and talk. I hurt all over and was at the height of crank-y-ness. My poor hands kept loosing feeling or would shake when I'd try to open something like a jar.

On Friday night, I made home made pizza for dinner because the hubs had to work Saturday. Then I worked a little on the Sewing Accessories Swap items until around 10:30. I have to say this swap has been the most challenging to date. It's tested my skill and patience and I hope Nadine likes what I'm sending her.

Saturday rolled around and I was up and outside working in the yard by 7:30. I've found that I may love to garden and see the flowers bloom but it is A LOT of work and has to be stayed on top of almost daily. Then I had to run some errands around 11 in the midst of the laundry and weeding. A while back Karen took me out thrift storing and I found this great little chair for $4 that I need for my sewing table. So I went to Loew's to get the supplies to repaint it. I started this around 1 in the afternoon. Here it is with the primer.

Here it is after the second coat of Valspar Canoe paint in eggshell.

I have a great dark burnt orange and gold fabric I'll recover the seat in one day.

At Loew's I found some mulch and soil in the discount bin that I put out in the front flower beds. 4 bags each. Did I mention I drive a Mini Cooper?

Cut some flowers and took over to Mariann our 94 year old neighbor and spent a little time chatting with her.

Then I worked on finding blinds for the guest room...

The room is a microwave in the mornings with all the sunshine pouring in. I won't mention how I knocked the ENTIRE valance off the large dining room window and had to fix that too.

Then the dogs got baths, the laundry finished (even aired out the comforter outside and washed the duvet and all the bedding)

Now's its only 10pm on Saturday! So I got into bed and did all the hand stitching on the binding for the SAS (see above). Did that clock say midnight?

Flash it's now 6am Sunday and Dazzi is pulling my hair to go outside. Dogs up out and fed and I'm drinking coffee outside on the patio flipping through sewing books. The hubs finally comes home and proceeds to point out all the things I have not done. The fridge. See previous post on the fridge, then no fresh baked goodies, the kitchen trash hadn't been taken out. Do you get the mood setting yet?

So I left to get groceries and get a brisket in the oven so it be ready by dinner time, the farmers market, JoAnns for the seat cushion, Rite Aide for prescriptions, home again to try to finish weeding the front yard and fix the side bed that the lawn guy can't seem to keep edged to keep the grass out of. Worked on the pinto beans on the stove, sewed a little on the SAS swap and of course had to throw in the dresden plates, planted the sunflowers, watered the inside and outside plants. Planned out the hubs "gun" quilt for the shooting range, made squash gratin and finally had dinner at 8pm.

Did I mention it's allergy season too and it was uber hot outside all weekend?

I need to blog more !

I've been remiss on blogging lately. Only when I have a spare minute here or there. I apologize my blogging friends. I have one little challenge and it's called work. Lately, I've spent my early mornings on the phone with Europe, the middle of the day working with Atlanta and now I've added in Asia to my evening conference calls.

Somewhere in there I have to cook, sew, garden, clean, laundry, actually talk to my husband instead of snuggling up to his snores.

I also have absolutely get over to see Babs at Beehive to get my hair done. It's horrendous right now - really.

Look at how well this little notebook Regena sent me matches my work coffee cup. I bought the cup on our honeymoon in Victoria, BC.

Here are my Tom's under my work desk...see I do live here!

Life from 30,000 Feet

In flight wifi. Nice to be able to blog while in transit for a change. Unfortunately, it also means you have access to work and emails and the outside world. Outside of this tube in the sky anyway. It is late and dark on the plane. I'm in the second row in economy. I have the 2 seat row to myself and I can people watch from where I am. The guy in the first row is working hard getting a buzz on with cocktails. the couple with the baby in the middle of my row finally got their child to sleep. The guy in front of me keeps looking back as I type - it either annoys him or he's too cheap to pay for his own internet access.

Work in Atlanta this week was rough, my moral is low and I am tired. I want to always help and fix and improve and move forward. When I come to the office here, I get more work, more confused, more challenges and more enlightenment all at the same time. It's emotionally draining. I'm ready to be home with my dogs and my husband.

Just before boarding, my hubs texted me saying he'd be working all night...a car hit a pole and he's working. I wont get to see him until tomorrow afternoon when I get home. It's a downer after the last few days.

The best part of the week is going to be walking around my yard looking over the things I've planted and seeing how much they've grown this week. It always amazes me to see this after I've been gone for a few days.

Maybe this weekend, I can plan something wonderful for the hubs birthday...crawfish boil anyone?

Gorilla Gardening

The routine has become that the house cleaning is done on Saturdays and on Sunday's a I attend the holy house of dirt worms and the almighty flower. My husband allowed me to go to the local gigantic home improvement store alone and in his truck. A combination that should be avoided at all costs.

When I returned home, he looked in the bed of the truck and shook his head saying "you just had to go an over-do-it". I explained that he was at a fault for setting up the this paradigm that gave me the freedom to select large flats of annuals at one time.

The flower bed outside our bedroom door was a bit of "hodge-podge", so I decided to redo it in a style similar to the adjoining flower bed. A handful of Gerber daisy, some double inpatients and miniature cup flowers created this easy wild flower look that mimic the other bed.

Now the front of the house received two full flats of marigolds and flame flowers. My idea is to start to integrate the fall colors in so that come October all I'll need to do is drop in some gold and red mums where the current petunias are slowly fading out at to tie it all together. Throw some pumpkins on the steps and a wreath on the door and I'll be ready for those houndling trick or treaters.

I was excited to see lady bugs in the garden yesterday, this means I am attracting the right kind of bugs to the yard. The worms seem happy in their compost bin and they are enjoying the constant supply of fruit and vegetable scraps from the kitchen.

Parking Garge Angst

For the last year my parking place has a stalker. I am a bit of creature of habit and I do appreciate a car with out dings or scratches. I park in the lowest part of the parking garage and had for the longest time the same spot.

I did ate least until the Red Honda with Texas plates showed up. He would get here before me and take my spot. This irked me. Some days we would arrive at the same time and I would take the spot. This dance went on for months. Then the wacko kiddos as the online video company next door started skateboarding in the parking garage. I then moved my spot further out. End spot third row from the wall. Our dear property management went and re-striped my spot out from under me. Another sad day. So I moved to the far back wall where NO ONE EVER PARKED.

Then I moved further away and now I get here a little later than before and MR. Red Honda took that spot too. Flipped me out.

So today I went to lunch with a couple co-workers. One of who also is a "away from everyone" else parker and has seen this saga going on with me and Mr Red Honda. We walk to his car and I notice that Mr. Red Honda has gone to lunch. I instantly moved my car into his spot.

If that Aholeyol keys my car, we are going to throw down.

I did nothing to him, other than want to park far away from him AND EVERYONE else. I did not single him out as he did my friggin parking spot.
