So a while back i was working on this apron and i snipped the fabric panel with my scissors leaving a gash in the fabric. I got so mad and frustrated i stuck it in the bottom of my UFO stack until I could even look at it again.
I took it out on Sunday to see if I had it in me to find a fix. I ended up cutting off the offending gash, adding some ric rac and a binding of the same fabric.
I hope it works...
Then I finished up last night the other apron for the other cousin...tonight I need to make the mom + sister aprons of this family and figure out 2 little girl aprons...yeah no time like last minute.

everyone knows that rick rack fixes everything!!
Looks pretty darn good to me.
Fabulous job utlilizing your opportunity for embelishment :) It looks awesome! Love the ruffled apron too! How did you like working with that pattern?
I like the look of the pattern, but I think there maybe easier ways to make it. I do like how the bib goes together with the neck ties. I don't want to relive the narrow hem foot fiasco on the ruffles any time soon. :)
I liked the look too, but the pattern isn't really user friendly. I changed it as I went along and it took me 6 hours to complete. I won't be re-doing it again any time soon either.
I can make you a ruffle pattern that is user friendly...honest!
And if you want to burn your fingers and do a double fold instead of using the foot, that's fine. OOOORRRRR for extra flounce, just double the height, fold in half and have double the ruffle. you can even top-stitch it to look like a single or leave it blousey.
Ok here's my take - let me if it's just the wrong approach. Keep the bib portion as it is in the pattern. Keep the 1st panel but make it the size of the skirt panel. Sew on 3 ruffles that are 2 at width of 12" folded in half to 6" and ruffled - attach to the skirt = repeat with 2 more ruffles but at a width of 20" folded in half to 10".
Less narrow hemming with the same overall look. Concern is the added weight of the double layered ruffles..
The weight won't be an issue but I have a better way. I'll send it to you, Keep the bib but change of the bottom. K
