Do you go on Quilt Retreats?

I want to go on a quilt retreat but have no idea what to expect.  Have any of you been on one? Do you have any recommendations on one you liked? Location really doesn't matter too much for me, I'm willing to travel.  Also, anyone ever take one of the quilt cruises?  Those look like fun.

Totally, need the blog land help on this.  I'm in Southern California and really want to go on one this year.

Thanks in advance!

I have been to one. There were lots of great women there. We did lots of sewing. Watched a very long truck show of tons of quilts. (Bring your camera for sure) I managed to get tons of sewing done. Bring more than one project to work on. Also if you are taking a class you will have that one to work on too. Bring comfy clothes, especially ones to sit in for long periods of time. I normally was one of the first to the classroom when nit opened, and I was always the last one to leave when they kicked me out at midnight. I was on a mission to get some serious sewing done, and I did just that. You get to meet lots of other women that love the same thing that you do.........quilting! Remember to take everything you normally use in your sewing room, don't forget your foot pedal to your machine. Most importantly, have fun! Find a famous quilter, that you really like their designs, and find out when and where they will be at a retreat and go to that one, this way you know you will like the program for the weekend long session. Not sure who you like, go check your book shelf, I am sure you have more books of one person than the others.

I read the above comments and this sounds just like scrapbooking retreats that I've attended. I always took waaaay too much stuff, but always got a lot of scrapping done and had fun. We had our own tables and access to the room for 3 days - day and night. A quilting retreat sounds like fun too. I hope we can find something!

I have only been on a couple and they were all with my moosie sisters. We cooked and quilted together. Last one was three years ago at lakearrowhead. one of the moosies has a cabin and hosts retreats so she opens it up to us every other year or so. total blast and I got a lot done.
