Rudy the Reindeer

Originally uploaded by amysgreatadventure
So I made Rudy yesterday as part of the Christmas in July event. I ordered the pattern from Banberry Place in San Antonio and sewed in up in about 3 hours total.

The instructions were great and easy to follow - I was so happy for this as I have had a hard time sewing little things in the past - see the red pig post.

I learned from this pattern to sew the pieces together before you cut them out of the fabric. Makes a huge difference. I also learned that stuffing holes really should be at least an inch and that the wooden skewer is key.

I think that I may make a few more Rudy's as stocking stuffers or present toppers for Christmas.

I am so happy with how he turned out!

@ Regena - I have to be zippy as I only get to sew when my hubs isn't around...He thinks I would spend all day sewing if I could (and I would) and not get my other "stuff" aka chores done...

thank you both :)

I do so many chores I never seem to get time to sew. LOL
Chores are highly overrated, imnsho
:-)
Of course, now that I blog to the masses ( choke, all 6 of you)I do even less. LOL
I try not to be on the computer whne the hubs is home, but sometimes i ust can't watch war junk with him, ya know? LOL

That's why I started cross stitching. That way I can still be crafty and sit next to my hubster while he watches "blow-them-up-everyone-dies" movies. Watching movies is his only hobby, so I craft while he works and cross stitch when he's home. It works for us :)

hubby's hobbies are way more active than tv and he's in bed by 830;900 because he gets up by 4am
and we have barco-loungers he hates the couch. LOL

I have one single luxury that really helps me have the time to sew/craft. It's a house cleaner. I work and have a job that has me gone a lot and when I am home I just want to enjoy being home and not scrubbing toilets. It is so a luxury that I truly am grateful to afford even if I have to work my butt off to pay for it.

Amy,
Your reindeer turned out fabulously! I love learning new things, and I'm happy this pattern taught you a few new tricks :-)

I get to be a stay home mom, and my house was a LOT cleaner when I did it all myself.Teaching the kids to do it means it looks like cacadoodledoo a lot becasue I won't redo it for them. They have to learn to take care of things since it won't be long before they have to.
Also, I am really, REALLY, good at wasting time. LOL

cacadoodledoo....now there's a word you don't hear too often in a sentence. I love it!!!! Anyhoo...I used to have a house cleaner when I was a workin' girl, but my problem was I was never happy with the way they cleaned and I was too non-confrontational to tell them about it, so I'd re-do it myself. Kind of defeats the purpose :) Now I just let the dust collect so that my husband can write me notes in it :)

Well, I try not to be a cuss bucket. Especially with words that aren't really cussing, but just yukky. At least that is one behavior my kids picked up!!! My son gives me a hard time when I go all 'Reba" and yell, "cccrraaapppppp!" LOL

Oh Regena! You are such a "potty mouth" :)

I am so! ;-)
Hey, I just signed up for the swap at flirty apron swap!! I hope someone wants a star trek apron. LOL Okay, how about a Hogwart's apron?

Karen said...

Very cool idea! I'm sure that Shawnee will partner you with someone who wants a Halloween Costum-ie apron rather than someone who wants a Fall apron. I'm not good at waiting. I want my partner info TODAY so I can go shopping and get started. *ugh*

you guys crack me up!!! i can't wait to see who my partner is for the swap...not sure how I'll meet the deadline right now with traveling the next 3 weeks, but I'll manage I suppose.

If you're lucky... :)

yikes! Lucky isn't my best thing!

Every time I see this post, I start singing: Rudolph the red nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose (like a light bulb)
And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows ( like a light bulb)
